In California an officer called for backup for a pretty strange reason.
While making a traffic stop of a pizza driver, the driver had a felony warrant, and had to be arrested by the officer. The arresting officer called for backup, but not because of problems serving the warrant, but because he was concerned about the pizza still making it to the family that ordered the pizza.
“File this one under ‘wouldn’t you be surprised…’” the department wrote online. “Unfortunately the driver had to be arrested for their warrant but fear not. Officer McCarthy stepped in to fill the delivery driver’s shoes and got the pizza to the hungry citizen.”
And best of all the officer didn’t want a tip saying, “The smile on the hungry citizen’s face was all the ‘tip’ needed to know we are doing our job.”
The following is the full police brief on FB.
File this one under “wouldn’t you be surprised…”
Earlier today Officer Datil was out and about doing traffic enforcement when he spotted a violator. He pulled the driver over, only to discover he had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest AND was in the middle of a food delivery to a hungry citizen.
Unfortunately the driver had to be arrested for their warrant but fear not. Officer McCarthy stepped in to fill the delivery drivers shoes and got the pizza to the hungry citizen.
The smile on the hungry citizens face was all the “tip” needed to know we are doing our job.
