NBCUniversal renewed a multi-year long deal to continue carrying the various channels from NBCUniversal on the Spectrum Cable TV Service.
In a surprise twist Peacock got added into the deal allowing Spectrum to offer customers within the grid guide access to Peacock as an on demand service.
The price for some will be $4.99/mo and some customers will pay nothing with a longer term free trial of the service. However everyone will be able to access the free tier of service.
The programing is expected to be the same in app and on Spectrum cable.
“Charter is a valued partner with passionate NBCUniversal fans in millions of homes nationwide,” said Matt Bond, Chairman, Content Distribution, NBCUniversal. “We look forward to delivering our industry-leading network content portfolio, as well as the strong collection of original and library content in our Peacock Premium offering, to Charter’s subscribers everywhere.”
NBCUniversal still plans to continue to offer their Peacock service direct to the consumer via Roku, Xbox, Tivo, and many other streaming devices for the same $4.99/mo.
